Colonsay Video

I recently spent 9 days rattling around a small Inner Hebridean island called Colonsay, waiving my camera around and trying to shelter it from the sand, sea spray and rain.

The result is a lot of pixel pummeling that I’ll be doing this week making some (hopefully) pretty pictures of which I’ll make some limited edition prints.
In the meantime, here’s a small video from a time-lapse sequence I did on the Colonsay Port where the ferry comes in once a day (6/7 days in summer, 3/7 in the winter).

It’s my first time-lapse so I hope you enjoy

Luminaire Band Pictures

I was asked recently to do some promo shots for up-and-coming rock band Luminaire

So we found ourselves on a warm sunny day running about in Hearfordshire looking for interesting backgrounds and shots.
The bassist said they wanted dark shots … as they’re rockers, but when I asked what Luminaire is supposed to mean, he said light

In the end I incorporated light as a theme into some of the shots and they were veeery happy with the results :)

Below is a selection of the 30 images they chose for their posters and CD sleeves
Although they look serious, we had a blast on the day, jumping around and laughing – but as a rock band they went with the ‘serious’ selection ;)

A couple of the shots as used by the band:

Building a Car Rig

Been testing some new gear including a new lighting boom.
I had a mini brainwave (surfs up) and I wanted to test it on my car to see how it performed as part of my automotive rig.

The reults are ok, but the boom was a bit too unstable and not quite long enough.
But it worked well as a compromise though and doesn’t take up too much room. All in all a useful test :)

Here’s a couple of regular shots+ some with the boom in motion:

My car is for sale too, more info here: http://pistonheads.com/sales/1451840.htm
